PROGRAMS
RESIDENTIAL
Our residential program is structured with daily sessions that include individual and group meetings, physical fitness, spiritual, recreational and 12 step activities. A typical day at Chabad can begin at sunrise with an optional morning hike and end in the evening with a 12-step meeting and then a game of pool or leisure time.
During the daily clinical programming each client participates in a variety of treatment sessions, such as:
- Individual and group therapy
- Spiritual counseling
- Recovery counseling
- Educational, motivational and expressive groups
- Family therapy
- Prayer and meditation
- Physical fitness
- Recreational Activities
- 12 step meetings
- Volunteering opportunities
The warm family environment at Chabad develops through caring client-staff relationships, deepens through graduates and peers helping each other, and results in long lasting fellowships.
OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Our outpatient treatment center is approximately 2 miles from our residential center, located on South La Cienaga Blvd. Most clients chose an outpatient facility because they are transitioning from residential care, they do not require the structure of residential treatment, or they have other obligations that make outpatient a preferred choice.
Clients typically start outpatient treatment attending 5 days per week (Sundays through Thursdays).
Because many of our clients are in different phases; some currently employed, some seeking work or schooling, and some just beginning to look at vocational options, treatment plans are individualized. Treatment goals may include: Cognitive therapy, trauma resolution, mindfulness and breath work, 12 step participation, communication skills, affect management, self care, and vocationally focused therapy.
Each client receives personal planning to maximize their possibility of sustaining life long sobriety as well as meeting the challenges of everyday life.
Weekly outpatient treatment includes:
- Individual and group therapy
- Individualized treatment planning
- Spiritual counseling
- Kaballah classes
- Tai Chi classes
- Art therapy
- 12 step recovery groups
- Educational and other specialty groups
- Family Therapy
- Fitness and wellness classes
- Case management
- Physical exams
- Vocational planning
SOBER LIVING & AFTER CARE
Continuing care is a key element in long-term sobriety.
To offer our clients the best support possible, Chabad provides an on site sober living that is available to our 3 month graduates. Cost is kept low, and some grants are available to help our clients get back on their feet. Sober living allows our clients to venture forward, begin work or school and still come home to a safe and familiar environment.
Chabad’s alumni support includes ongoing counseling, sober birthday and holiday celebrations, alumni groups, and networking.
12 STEP PROGRAM
The 12-step program is another evidence-based approach to addiction that Chabad integrates well with other facets of our treatment.
Through recovery groups, attendance at meetings, and working the steps, clients are able to:
- Gain a greater spiritual understanding and connection with G-d
- Challenge negative cognitive beliefs
- Increase social involvement, social skills, and fellowship
- Work on individual self improvement
- Access and repair psychological vulnerabilities
- Learn self regulation skills
- Assume greater self accountability
- Construct meaningful lives with opportunities to help others in recovery
TRAUMA WORK (CBT, CPT)
Many research studies point to the correlation of trauma and addiction. Unprocessed traumas can lead to trigger responses, negative thoughts that are not accurate or self-serving, and result in harmful choices. Our therapists help clients explore and process these past traumas, release associated anxiety and depression, increase self esteem, construct healthier inner scripts, and decrease avoidance behaviors such as substance abuse.
We utilize cognitive processing techniques, cognitive and behavioral desensitization, and eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) to help alter the impact of traumas. This frees our clients to move forward, become less reactive, and gain inner strength to face new challenges without the use of substances.
VOCATIONAL COUNSELING
The preparation and work stage of our program is designed to help our clients gain independence and re-enter the work force. In this transitional stage of treatment the therapeutic focus shifts to preparing for employment, further education, and re-entering the greater community.
The beginning phase of this stage starts with discovering vocational interests, skills sets, strengths, and educational needs to procure a job.
Job seeking skills such as preparing a resume, searching online, filling out applications, practicing mock interviews, and making community contacts continues the process of job preparation.
We have a computer room that is accessible to our clients with counseling and clinical staff to assist in researching educational programs, local jobs, arrange for GED preparation, and visits to community colleges and job centers. Many of our clients have found placements though local establishments that favor hiring Chabad graduates, and others have become inspired by our guest speakers. We have graduates who returned to school and gained work in the fields of counseling, graphics, law, psychology, business, automotive repair, computers, engineering, business, healthcare, construction and other vocations.
